Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My brother has cirrhosis of the liver. His health seems to be deteriorating quickly. He has been hospitalized 3 times in the last couple of months with bleeding, falling, and a seizure. Does this mean he is at the end of life? Will these symptoms/side effects increase?
Hello dear, Cirrhosis is very severe disease. Treatment prevent its progression and reduce complication. damage can not be reversed. Take following measure 1. Take healthy diet 2. Strictly follow up 3 Avoid alcohol and drug like paracetamol 4. Vaccination of hepatitis A, B and C 5. oral lactulose to prevent brain damage 6. But in your case best treatment is liver transplantation along with immnosuppression like tacrolimus/azatthioprin: five-year survival rate is now around 80% and it is successful.
So please meet the best liver and billiary institute in your area.
Hope this may help you. All the best
