my 100 yr old mom has sciatica. has had back & leg pain off & on for past 10 yrs following fall where she broke 5 ribs. has spinal stenosis. primary care dr rx hydrocodone 500 mg. she takes 1/2 tab every 3 yrs or so & with ice bag does fairly well, but cant stay up for more than 10 or 15 min. dr. sd maybe she nees MRI for epidural injections by a specialist. but i dont know if she can tolerate 30 min or more for MRI. he also recommends phys ther, but i also dont know if she can tolerate that. she spends most of her time in her recliner because is most comfortable there. sleeps in recliner because a lot of pain getting in & out of bed. i worry about her being in recliner so much. phys therapist says contact them when she is up to it. has been going on for 4 wks. sometimes better, sometimes worse. i stay with her 24 hrs. appetite is good. she is getting depressed because she doesnt believe it will ever end. too old for surgery.
