Suggest Treatment For Reduced Lung Capacity And Insomnia

my wife has severe emphysema (3 years) she has 16% lung capacity and is lately having trouble getting a good nights sleep. She is not on O2 probably because she was a singer and has good diaphram control. what things should I look out for as concerns as her disease progresses? what could we do about her sleep problem? and is now having trouble sleeping, she is a good weight, has 16% lung capacity and is one of those who don t need o2 probably because she was a singer and has good diaphram control . what things should I watch out for as her disease continues

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Emphysema is a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and is characterized by difficulty in breathing and low lung capacity.
Low lung capacity can result in disturbed sleep and thus low oxygen saturation.
Emphysema is a chronic progressive disease so the difficulty in breathing is going to increase with time.
Being a singer or having good diaphragm control will not help since the disease is progressive.
Emphysema cannot be treated but it can be managed with appropriate drugs.
Sleep disturbance is due to compromised pulmonary functions.
I suggest you to consult a pulmonologist for sleep study to determine the problems faced during sleep and its management.

Thanks and take care
