I have been taking antibiotics for a gum infection when azromycin and clindamycin did not work I was put on cephalexin. I am allergic to penicillin this was part of the discussion. After 2doses of 500mg I found red pinhole size dots on my lower legs, took Benadryl and stopped the cephalexin. That was 3 days ago dots are on my thighs and toso now - far less in number then the ones on my legs. Initially generalized itching and my eyes are blood shot. When will this go away and can I do something to help it? The on call periodontist wants me to start clindamycin again but it did not work before and my gum is still infected do to alloderm used in gum surgery.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red tiny dots on legs which could be due to abundance of sebaceous glands in this area and due to clogging of sebaceous glands with dead bacteria and sebum as excessive glands are there. It is due to bacterial infection of legs area which is leading to folliculitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to keep the area clean and maintain proper hygiene and dryness. You should apply topical antibacterial cream such as mucopren. Take oral antibiotics as well. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. You can go for peeling as well. Wash properly with cold water and apply topical antibacterial cream bacitracin.
