Suggest Treatment For Red Spot On Left Side Of Abdomen Of An Infant

Hi my two and a half month baby boy got hurt in the area above the stomach in the left side when by mistake a pretty heavy cell phone fell on him. He did not cry after that but a red spot was created which cleared up after ten to fifteen minutes. What are the chances that internal bleeding to occur and what will be the symptoms of internal bleeding in stomach or intestines in baby?

Hi,

It is always concerning when a young child is hurt, and it is important to keep a close eye on any changes in their condition. While it is possible for internal bleeding to occur after a trauma such as being hit by a heavy object, it is not common in cases where there is only a small red spot and no other symptoms.

However, it is important to monitor your baby for any signs of distress or changes in behavior, such as excessive crying, lethargy, or difficulty breathing. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical attention right away.

In terms of treatment for the red spot on your baby's abdomen, it is important to keep the area clean and dry and to monitor for any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or discharge. You can apply a cold compress to the area to help reduce swelling and discomfort.

If you have any concerns about your baby's condition or if you notice any changes in their behavior or symptoms, it is important to seek medical attention right away. A healthcare provider can perform an evaluation and determine if any further treatment or monitoring is necessary.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

It's difficult to assess the risk of internal bleeding without a physical examination. However, if your baby did not show any signs of distress or discomfort after the incident and the red spot cleared up after 10-15 minutes, it is unlikely that there is any significant internal bleeding.

Symptoms of internal bleeding in the stomach or intestines in a baby may include vomiting blood, blood in the stool, pale skin, weakness, and a fast heartbeat. If you notice any of these symptoms or your baby seems to be in pain or distress, you should seek medical attention immediately. In the meantime, keep an eye on your baby for any changes in behavior or symptoms and if you have any concerns, do not hesitate to contact your pediatrician.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
