Suggest Treatment For Recurring Severe Cramps In Left Knee And Thigh

I have been having severe leg cramping in my left knee area and thigh. They come really anytime, generally afternoon to night and can happen after sitting for more than 30 minutes, laying down and twisting wrong, really can not pinpoint a time or event. I am on omneperazole, aspirin, loradatine and vitamin D. I have below normal HDL,LDL and triglycerides. I am over 60 and have had a complete hysterectomy. I am wondering what to do and possibly what kind of doctor to consult.

Hello,

You have pain in the left knee and thigh. You have history of having been done complete hysterectomy. Exercise is beneficial for circulation, it helps to prevent cramping muscles. Stay active throughout the day. Dehydration also causes muscle cramps. Make sure you’re drinking at least 1.5 liters of fluid daily, which can be made up of liquids like water, sugar-free cordials, teas and soups.

Take a healthy, balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit, lean protein, whole grains, nuts seeds, etc. Supplement your diet with magnesium and other minerals. You can take naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS to get relief. Gentle massage may help. You can get clinically examined by an Orthopedics and get all required blood workouts, tests and investigations done to detect OA, RA or any other pathology that may be causing you symptoms. You will be treated accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
