Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Fever And Congestion In A Child
Hello, My son is suffering from 19 Oct 2016 10 Months Baby, he took 4 antibiotics cefixime, then ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin and then amoxicilin each for 5 days...he get rekliefed from last antibiotic but he get congestion and fever again not later than 2 weeks of treatment...and till now he has same position...Doctor diagnosed him with allergic infection
How high has his fever been? What is the course of his fever? Constantly? Only at night or only during the day? Cough? Does he continue to have an appetite? Is he gaining weight? Any other infections-such as pneumonia or skin?
Does he attend daycare? Is he around other infants and young children? It is unusual for an infant this age to have an allergy. Usually there is a family history. Does anyone in your family have asthma, eczema, or hay fever (these are allergic diseases)?
Often an infant who is exposed to other young children will catch a cold and symptoms last ten days or so. And just when he is getting over this cold he catches another one. Despite having two or more colds, it seems that he is having one long cold.
The best way to treat nasal congestion is to put a drop of saline nose drops(available over the counter) into each nostril. This will cause him to sneeze and blow the mucus to the front of his nose so you can suction using an infant bulb syringe.
You might want to talk with your son's doctor to see if your son could be tried taking no antibiotics and watch for any change in his condition.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
