Suggest Treatment For Rashes On The Genitals Of An Infant
2 week old infant has suddenly developed very acidic stool (over the last few days) that is causing a major rash on anus. What can be causing this and is there a solution? Boudreaux s Butt Paste (40% zinc oxide) has not worked - stool removes applied layer quickly Baby is changed as soon as diaper is used. Sometimes even back to back after urinations or bowel movements to help reduce worsening of irritation.
When the stools are loose the child may develop diaper rash and also fungal infection. The zinc oxide cream is good for the diaper rash but will not help with the fungal infection.I would recommend you to use an antifungal cream like miconazole or clotrimazole at the red are (and 2 cm around it) twice a day after washing the area and gently drying it. You can put the zinc oxide cream over the antifungal cream and also use it every time you change the diapers.
Try to keep the baby without diaper for short periods or times like after having a bowel movement and you have washed him, keep him 15 minutes without a diaper so the area heals quicker.
If no improvement in 3-4 days with this treatment of any worsening please see your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
