Hi there and thanks for sharing your question with us at HCM.
It sounds as though your Mom is having an
allergic reaction to the hair oil. In an allergic reaction, there will be itching, swelling and rashes. Allergies to hair products tends to appear 2 to 3 days after using the product.
Allergic reactions involving the
scalp can be quite aggravating if not quickly treated. If she is diabetic, she will need to be closely monitored to prevent super-infection.
First, get your Mom to wash her hair thoroughly with the strongest shampoo you have at home. Towel-dry the scalp, do not blow dry as her skin there is raw and hot air on raw skin can be very painful.
Then take her to your regular doctor so that she may be examined. They will need to give her systemic
corticosteroids to end the allergic reaction and this may either be in injection or pill form, depending on the severity.
They will also prescribe a cream to be applied to the skin along with oral anti-histamines to help cope with the itching.
Take a note of the contents of this hair colour oil. It appears to be an organic product but one can still be allergic to any of its components.
Hope this helps. Thanks.
