Suggest Treatment For Rashes All Over The Body Of A Child

My grandson was diagnosed with hand foot and mouth disease. He has been taking an antibiotic for an ear infection. The rash is all over his body, it does not look like the pictures of hand foot and mouth disease. I am conserned that he is having an alergic reaction to the medicine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you noticed rashes extending over the whole body after giving antibiotics, an allergic reaction is an important possibility. Allergic reactions in a small child should not be managed at home.

The dosage of medication will also depend on the weight of the child.

So, please be advised to follow up with the nearest emergency room as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal,
