Suggest Treatment For Raised Red Rash On Buttocks And Vertigo

Hello, My father has a raised red rash across his buttocks. He has been having some vertigo for the past few weeks. His doctor says he is low in Vitamin B s, so put him on tablets for the deficiency.Dad has been very tired, irritable, anxious, depressed, swollen ankles, tingles in the feet. He has a pace maker. Do you think my father needs injections for his deficiency or just take the tablets for two months like his doctor prescribed? My Dad had a major gut surgery after a colonoscopy went wrong a few years ago, his stomach has been diverted. Tania

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The rash in the buttocks can be related to many medical conditions. One of the common conditions is an allergic reaction. I suggest using a mild steroid cream for local application such as Calamine lotion. I also suggest to continue the vitamin B supplements as to treat the vitamin deficiency.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
