Suggest Treatment For Purplish Discoloration Of Hamstring After Injury

Hello, I pulled my groin playing hockey exactly 1 week ago today. My leg on the effected side showed no bruising including this morning. I just arrived home from work and 75% of my hamstring area is purple. There is almost zero pain. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being excruciating I m at a 1. More concerned with the giant bruise that showed up sometime in the last 12 hours.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of purple discoloration on the hamstring area of the groin is indicative of hamstring injury and internal injury (tear / strain) or blood clot within the tissue. You are suggested to apply Ointment Thrombophob locally in the area of purple discoloration to reduce blood clots within the tissues and also to reduce inflammation.

For pain you can take Combiflam, one SOS when required. Do not stress your legs unnecessarily, stay at rest. Avoid strenuous activities before your hamstring muscles are completely healed to prevent recurrence of the injury. Get clinically assessed to rule out hernia or groin hernia.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
