Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. The most likely cause of your persistent bleeding currently, is due to the hormone imbalance created by the use of the emergency contraceptive pill. As the pill contains high dose of progesterone, the natural hormone balance of the body is disrupted. This is the cause of the withdrawal bleeding you observed. However, protection offered is in the range of 98-85 percent depending on the time lapse after the intercourse. You need immediate medical attention to regulate the menstrual cycle, arrest the bleeding and improve your general condition. Styptics help to reduce the bleeding. Hope this helps.
