I am 28 years of age. In recent weeks I contracted a bout of flu and chesty cough. While the flu had subsided, the cough persists. I have been taking Bisolvan as a decongestant but to no avail. what alternative medication should I take for curing my persistent cough? Sally

Hi welcome to HCM...

You might have viral flu ....It will resolve with time by our immunity ....You have taken correct treatment with decongestent...

Steam inhalation done two times a day....

Water drinking should be more ....

Salt water gargles useful....

Avoid excess spicy foods..

If cough persist for more than three week than evaluated through chest x ray...

ASO titre done to rule out streptococci infection....

If symptoms not improving take antibiotic like cefixime 200 mg BD for five days...

Your auscultation also should be done ..

Advise : physician consultation.

Take care ...
