What Causes Chronic Cough Despite Taking Steroid Injection And Z-Pak?

I have had a productive cough for 3+ weeks. Had a flu shot last October, I had a steroid injection, antibiotic injection and a z-pac approximately 2 1/2 weeks ago. I continue to have a productive cough now with some vomiting. Should I pursue further treatment?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have chronic cough despite taking steroid injection and Z-Pak which could be due to a number of causes like chronic upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, allergies, lung infection or side effects of steroid or may be Z-pack is causing problem.

I would suggest you to consult an ENT specialist or Pulmonologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests, chest x ray, sputum culture etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.

Doctor may alter the does or prescribe substitute .You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, anti allergics like Levocetrizine, mucolytics like Ambroxol.
