Suggest Treatment For Problems In Adenoid And Tonsils

Hi,
My son is 4 yrs old and since more than a year he is having cold and difficulty to breathe in the night time, during the day he is well.
Always he is having cold and sometimes with fever and is always 103 to 104 degree. First i consult a child specialist and she said that maybe he is having adenoid but not much so i should observe and if the symptoms are more then to consult and ENT, i want for 3 months in start of this year and then i did consult and ENT here is Dubai, the doctor did some tests and x-ray and nose mucus test and then put my son on a treatment which ran for almost 4 months, he gave Singular chewable tablets and Nasonex spray and said that it will help and there is no adenoid to worry about, but still after the treatment there is no change in my son symptoms, so i consulted another doctor here and showed him all the reports of the previous dates and he also did x-ray and said that my son is having adenoid and tonsils which is a problem and also there is fluid which has to be operated.
Now i need to know if surgery is required and is it safe, do i have any other option.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Ismail

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding adenoiditis and tonsillitis in your child of 4 years age. Since your physician had given coservative treatment and your first ENT doctor had tried the anti allergy treatment but unfortunately there is no positive response.

Your child is having difficulty in breathing in night is an important issue and if one will ignore it than there are chances of development of sleep apnoea and COPD. Keeping these things in mind I think you should proceed for operation. Further I would like to suggest you that adenotonsillectomy is not a sereous operation and may be performed in day care clinic.

Probably above answers your query.

Regards.
