I have chronic cough which is phlegmy. I have to have a cough drop in my mouth at all times so I don t have coughing spasms. This has been going on for at least 6 months. My chest x-ray is clear, I don t have asthma and I don t smoke. I am a 58 year old female.
Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you should first consult pulmonologist and get done pulmonary function test (PFT) to rule out chronic bronchitis. Chronic bronchitis can be due to any of the below. 1 smoking 2. Air pollution 3. Asthma 4. Age related. In your case I think it is age related( senile). So PFT is needed to diagnose chronic bronchitis in your case.
