Suggest Treatment For Persisting Pain After Shingles Treatment
Hello, my name is Shiela. I had shingles about 9 years ago, on my left side. It goes from my shoulder blade is under my arm and to my left breast. Unfortunately I still have the pain since then. My question is should I still get a shingles shot or would it do any good to get one? Can you break out with shingles more than once? I m sorry doctor I can t afford to pay for the answer right now, but thank you so much for your patience. Again I m really sorry for taking up your time.
I can understand your concern for persisting pain after shingles. It appears from your query that you have developed Postherpetic neuralgia or PHN. It is really very painful and troublesome condition in most of patients.
Additionally tablet cyanocobalamine is also quite effective and can be taken for long time.
I also use Capsaicin 8% patch which is only a counter irritant to reduce the sensation of patch but is not a long term therapy or curative therapy for Postherpetic neuralgia.
All the Best

Suggest Treatment For Persisting Pain After Shingles Treatment
Hi, I can understand your concern for persisting pain after shingles. It appears from your query that you have developed Postherpetic neuralgia or PHN. It is really very painful and troublesome condition in most of patients. In my patients I treat them with tablets of amitriptyline, gabapentin and pregabalin in proper dosage and schedule. Additionally tablet cyanocobalamine is also quite effective and can be taken for long time. I also use Capsaicin 8% patch which is only a counter irritant to reduce the sensation of patch but is not a long term therapy or curative therapy for Postherpetic neuralgia. All the Best
