Suggest Treatment For Persistent Pain In The Legs, Hips And Hands

When we were young my sis and I slept in the same bed. At night when I tried to sleep my legs hurt badly and I d cry. My sis would pound up/down on my legs to numb them and I d sleep. Then some time later when I was a bit older they quit hurting. NOW: All my bones hurt and got worse over time--ribs, shoulders, arms, hands (Dr. Hill at Western Reserve Hosp. said gout in hands); legs, hips (esp. right), lower spine. The same feelings I HAD when I was young, but all over now. My really BIG problem for about a week is right knee and leg. Sometimes a vein feels as if it is stretching, sometimes it s the inside leg muscle, but the knee and/or leg bone feels like they re splintered. It used to hurt to lift the leg, but now it hurts to step on it. I use a quad cane now, but leg still hurts. I have many things wrong with me, so do you want the ones that may cause this? Why did this happen when I was small, go away and come back? Thanks, Patsy

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sounds to be due to underlying systemic disorder conducting the inflammation of various joints and soft tissue parts.

Primary guidelines for the same would be like
@ Control of body weight, blood sugar.
@ Prescription of anti inflammatory drugs with or without steroids as per consultant evaluation.
@ Basic work up with necessary lab tests, X-ray of particular joints.
@ Correction of underlying deficiency of any essential elements as calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamin B12, folate and so forth.
@ Regular physiotherapy assisted with an expert.

Wish you fine health.

Regards.
