Suggest Treatment For Persistent Nausea

Hello, for about the past month it has been very hard for me to eat a normal amount of food everyday, on Thursday, Jan 27 I ate two small burgers and that was all. On Friday my body wouldnt let me eat anything and I had a half of a sprite. On Saturday I took two bites of ramen noodles, a half a glass of orange juice, a half a can of sprite, and one and a half Ensure nutritions. Today all I have had is one Ensure nutrition and I can eat. I constantly feel like I am going to throw up.

Hello,

Persistent nausea can usually be due to the following reasons:

- Gastritis and acidity related issues
- Some medications or foods and beverages causing such a problem
- Any intestinal problem
- Intra-cranial problems
- Hepatitis and other liver related diseases

Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:

- Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations of blood like liver function tests.
- X-ray of abdomen and Ultrasonography of abdomen.
- Upper GI Endoscopy and added diagnostic procedures as per the findings of the previously mentioned investigations.

All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and gives plan of any management as needed. Till then, take a PPI like Omeprazole, Domperidone and antacids and see if these help. Avoid all the foods and beverages that are known to instigate the problems or enhance the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
