Suggest Treatment For Persistent Dark Skin Zits

I have tiny black and grey balls under the skin on my arms, chest and legs. One doctor called them dry skin bumps and recommended Keri body oil another said to take a needle to it when they become inflamed. This is something that I ve dealt w/ since I was a child and am 40yrs old now. Basically when the balls are ready to surface they turn into an inflamed huge bump that is difficult to relieve because the ball is deeply rooted within. As a tiny ball they cause no problem for me but when they become inflamed it is very painful and once the ball is removed I have no more problems w/ that spot. How can I eliminate these balls for good?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

The lesions on arms, chest and legs are called keratosis pilaris. The condition is genetically inherited and characterised by multiple follicular papular eruptions on arms, trunk and legs. Skin becomes dry and irritated. Some lesions may become big due to rupturing or squeezing.

Consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment. I would suggest applying mild retinoic acid gel and vitamin E cream. Do not use soap at bath. Take supplements like vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel,
