Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough And Cold With Nausea

I have a 2 year 4 months baby boy. From past 3-4 weeks he has been getting cough and could. We went to doc and he was prescribed antibiotic and some other medicine, and he became fine and was ok for one week. From yesterday i see he is getting it back and he has problem sleeping, keeps on crying for the whole night and makes face as if he will vomit in night. I am concerned and don t want to go for multiple medicine again. Is their a way he can get well with minimal or no medicine. FYI: He started going to playgroup from past two months.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

If there is no fever, yellow nasal discharge, or breathing difficulty, we need not worry. Even some fever is acceptable for 2-3 days. Most of these are viral, and need no antibiotics. Children gets this often when they starts outing. Take him back to doctor if the fever persists beyond 3 days, yellow nasal discharge, severe wet cough disturbing him, breathing difficulty, or he is dull and refuses to feed. Otherwise, just use paracetamol and a nasal decongestant as needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
