Suggest Treatment For Persistent Abdominal Pain And Vomiting

I m not sure but I think I may have a bowel obstruction or diverticulitis. I have had abdominal pain for 2 and a half days, vomiting 2x, my abdominal is painful to move twist bend. At times it feels like its on fire. my bowel movements are liquidy with some solids in them. Do I really need to go to the hospital or is there a way to treat myself at home?

Hi,

If you have bowel obstruction or diverticulitis, you would need to be seen.

You need imaging of the abdomen by X-ray, if there is an obstruction, there would be fluid levels. If you have diverticulitis, antibiotics may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
