Suggest Treatment For Pcos

I have an endometriun 6 mm thick and am perimenapausal with a history of pcos (age 54) Ovaries are normal. I took prometrium in february but because of illness, stopped after 4 nights and got a bleed of three days (fairly heavy at first) I knew this couldn t be good. 90 days since last cycle. I called ob/gyn and scheduled ultra sound (and a endometrial sampling) at my app. in 2 weeks. 6mm was the measured thickness. I also was told to take another course of the prometrium. It has been a week and a half without menstruation. Is this worrisome?

Hi,

It is normal to have irregular or skipped periods beyond the age of 50. Given that you had no period for several months, I would have expected the artificial progesterone induce withdrawal bleed to be quite heavy as it was. Given that you are beyond the usual age of menopause, I agree with the plan for a biopsy and a repeat ultrasound. This does not sound worrisome at all and it sounds like you have a good plan in place.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
