Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Lower Left Side Of Back

I have pain in the lower left side of my back. I am currently taking labetalol 100mg, three times a day for acute hypertension stemming from eclampsia. I ve been taking it for 3 months now, but have had this pain continuously since this morning. Can labetalol cause kidney stones?

Hi,

Kidney stones is not a side effect of labetalol. Since your pain has started just today morning only, you need not worry about kidney stones. This may be from minor sprain / stiffness of muscles or tissues there from sleeping position or exertion. If you don't have other features like fever, dysuria or frequent urination, just take paracetamol 3 times a day for 2 days to see the response. only if it persists, we need further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK, Pediatrician
