Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Breasts When Diagnosed With PCOS

The last week both my breast progressively got more sensitive to the point of painful when touch. They do not hurt as long as I don t touch or bump them. I also have been experiencing a fullness of the lower abdominal which is almost painful at times. I have PCOS and a Mirena and I have not have periods most of the adult life. I am 38 years old. Not sure whether I should wait and see if it passes or seek medical attention?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You should take medical aid at the earliest. Side effects of Mirena are pelvic pain, amenorrhea, breast tenderness & pain, depression or weight gain.

I suggest you visit a gynecologist, get physically examined to rule out ovarian cysts, functional gastrointestinal disorder, IBS.

Your gynecologist may suggest removal of Mirena depending upon the severity of the symptoms.

Your treatment will depend upon your symptoms. You can take antacids, PPI's & spasmol for relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
