Suggest Treatment For Pain In Right Side Of Chest

Howdy Doctor, After diagnosing the rash that I had as shingles, my small-town doctor told me to take 6 pills of Aleve per day. After one year of following these instructions, I had consumed over 2,000 pills. Some had gathered and burned a hole through my stomach. Fortunately, a great surgeon, patched me up and saved my life. I have given up Aleve and switched to Gabapentin pills, three times a day. The shingles rash has gone away, however, I still experience pain on the right half of my chest. I do not want to return to my first physician, however, I would like to reduce and eventually be free of the pain. What do you suggest ?

Hi,

It is irritated nerves. Any nerve pill will help. THe best is often topical Lidocaine often as a patch over the area towards the middle of the body. Also, Amitryptiline, most epilepsy meds like Gabapentin or Lyrica are helpful. Cymbalta I don't like due to a 30% withdrawal risk.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
