Suggest Treatment For Occasional Headaches And Nose Bleeds After Head Injury

Years ago I hit my head on a sharp headboard of a bed in Germany. I was on vacation and there was a dent in my head and I was bleeding. We were hours away from a hospital so my dad bandaged me up and I obstanied from physical activity. After that my head hurt occasionally and sometimes when I bent over or hit my head lightly fluid (a yellowish clear color) would come out of my nose. I get headaches occasionally but it scares me. Whoever I try to ask my parents if I can see a doctor they say no nothing s wrong but I m still afraid. I m only 17 and I want to go by myself if they won t take me to be sure. What should I do? And is my concern valid?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to the head injury. The light fluid from the nose can be related to cerebrospinal fluid. It should be evaluated by a neurologist as soon as possible. I suggest to go at the emergency room.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
