Suggest Treatment For Numbness In Left Side Of Head, Hand And Foot

I am 54 yrs old. Having some numbness in the left hand with some tremor. The left side of head/face, last three fingers of left hand and even the last three toes on left foot are numb. I still have strength in limbs. Have been to doctor, he ordered CTscan, but so far the insurance will not approve. What to do? Any suggestions?

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Numbness on one side of the body is concerning for possible stroke. You definitely need CT brain for evaluation of numbness. Please discuss with your doctor regarding the insurance problems and suggest to your doctor to talk to the insurance agency and convince them regarding the importance of CT scan with your symptoms. CT scan is required for ruling out possible intracranial bleed before initiating antiplatelet therapy (aspirin). Ct scan is also important to assess the area of the brain affected and presence of any space occupying mass lesions.

Hope this answers your question
