Suggest Treatment For Numbness And Pain After Discectomy
HI, I had a discectomy on L4-L5 in May. About 6 days after surgery I was in extreme pain and learned it had re-herniated and the doctor recommeded surgery again. I passed in hopes the pain would improve and it did. I have still had leg pain at times but can live with it. It seems as though my left leg is no weaker than back in May. I had developed drop foot and extreme numbness in some toes and back of calf in left leg. I have been having swelling in my left foot lately and was wondering if that is related to the back. What is your opinion?

A discectomy may be recommended if physical therapy or medication fail to relieve leg or back pain or if you have signs of nerve damage, such as weakness or loss of feeling in your legs. The surgery can be performed in an open or minimally invasive technique.
