Suggest Treatment For Nausea, Confusion And Rashes On The Legs

my 80 yr old mother took one pill of sulfamethoxazole over 2 months ago, and had a terrible reaction... nausea, confusion, dizziness, brain fog, and terrible rash and itching on her legs. She never took another, but still has the itching rash. skin is dry thick scaly with red bumps. on ankles and lower legs up to her knees. Im trying to get her to go to a dr. and maybe your input would help. What kind of dr. would you recommend?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to sulfamethoxazole drug allergy.

For rash, you can apply hydrocortisone ointment locally. You can take tablet loratadine for rash and tablet ondansetron for nausea.

Alternatively, you can apply Aloe Vera gel locally. Kindly watch for symptoms like breathing difficulty, swelling all over the body.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
