Suggest Treatment For My Knee Getting Locked In The Morning

I am a 50-year-old woman, married and child-free. I am 5 6 and weigh 68 kilos. My general health is fairly good, but for about a year now, my left knee gets locked when I am about to get up from bed in the morning. The duration of the locking has progressively increased - from 5 minutes to close to two hours, when it last happened some four-five months ago. Ever since I have started to tie my foot to the cot, lest I bend my knee in my sleep and suffer from the pain. But, I don t want it to be a permanent feature of my life; I want the problem to be treated.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms could be related to arthritis. For this reason, I recommend performing a knee joint MRI and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation). Consulting with an orthopedist may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
