Suggest Treatment For Migraine And Lower Abdominal Pain

Having extreme lower stomach pain waves( contractions) throughout day ad night. Dr. Thinks it may be an ulcer but my symptoms don t match up. Prescribed rabeprazole. I have taken to-four excedrin migraine daily for more than ten years. Could this be a cause.

Hello,
You are correct that ulcer pain usually in the upper abdomen, but taking excedrine for that long certainly puts you at risk for an ulcer. If there is an ulcer causing the pain, the rabeprazole should help cure that up. If it is not resolving on the rabeprazole then you may need further testing like CT or colonoscopy to determine the cause.

General Surgeon Dr. T Chandrakant's  Response
Hi, read and understood your question.
You have constant lower abdominal pain which comes in waves. You have been taking excedrin for a long time. And may not be the cause.
Your explanation of pain in waves is seen classically in a condition called sub-acute intestinal obstruction.
If I were treating you, I would go for the investigations first to get the cause. I would do the following :
-X-ray of the whole abdomen in standing position
-Enterclysis and
Diagnostic Laparoscopy if required.
Since you are suffering for so long, we should get the definite diagnosis and treat accordingly.
