General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Lump on the jaw line is not always malignant, it can be benign, they can be enlarged lymph nodes reacting to infection.

You are suggested to get it clinically examined by a dentist, if it is abscess due to infection, it can be drained & antibiotics will be given for healing.

However, it can be a tumor, cyst, salivary glands enlargement, intraoral swelling or cancerous growth. To assess it the dentist will take CAT scan, MRI & biopsy.

Stay away from alcohol, smoking, tobacco chewing, exposure to HPV, etc as they are life style risk factors to oral cancer.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K
