Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Four days ago I ate Thai food and the next morning felt a bit crampy in my lower left abdomen area. That evening I developed chills but only had a temp of 97.6. I did not have nausea or vomiting. Nor do I have symptoms of constipation. My appetite was decreased and initially I thought it might be food poisoning. I slept for 12 hours which is very unusual for me, was very lethargic the next day but improved. It has been progressively getting better and appears to be resolving but at times and still painful upon palpation. I ve been taking ibuprofen 800 mg three times a day which helps. I have no history of diverticulosis or diverticulitis. Currently no fever, Constipation, appetite is improving, was a bit dehydrated but am better . Your thoughts?
I'm sorry to hear you have been having some abdominal pain lately. As you mentioned, your symptoms sound very suspicious for diverticulitis. The area of your pain and the slow improvement especially support this diagnosis.
I would recommend you see your doctor for a possible CT scan to confirm this diagnosis and make sure there are no complications, such as an abscess. Then, if the diagnosis is confirmed, you could be given antibiotics to help clear the infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
General & Family Physician
