HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This pain may be neuralgia or nerve related pain. This can result from abnormal structure or function of the nerves.

It is possible that due to changes in the vertebra (bones in the back) such as arthritis, that there may be compression of the nerves.

It would be best to see your doctor for review. Imaging studies would be needed.

I hope this helps

Pathologist and Microbiologist Dr. Shailja Puri's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Lower back pain going down to the buttocks and then into leg could be due to sciatica.
Sciatica is pain arising due to involvement of sciatic nerve.
The pain arising from sciatic nerve arises from hip/ buttock region and moves down to thigh and then to leg.
The course of pain follows the sciatic nerve.
A MRI of the lumbar spine will be helpful.
I suggest you to consult your orthopedician for clinical assessment, investigations and thus management.

Thanks and take care
