Suggest Treatment For Low Grade Fever Along With Swollen Upper Lip

My son had a low fever today so I gave him Ibuprofen and he felt better. I gave him a second tablet this evening as well. Several hours later, he has a swollen upper lip. He said he's been sneezing all day. I'm wondering if he is allergic to the ibuprofen? Can I give him Allegra?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that swollen upper lip and sneezing seems to be probably due to allergic reaction only and in case if it has happened after giving Ibuprofen, it can be due to allergic reaction to Ibuprofen..

It can however be due to other causes like allergic reaction to any food, animal danders, pollen, trees and grasses, etc..

I would suggest you to give him anti allergics like Allegra or benadryl..
You can also replace Ibuprofen with Tylenol to reduce fever..
Do cool compresses over the lip..

In case if the symptoms recur then consulting an Allergist and get evaluated and an allergic test can help in confirmation of cause and treatment can be done accordingly..
In case of allergic reaction anti allergics can be advised..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
