Suggest Treatment For Irregular Periods After Inserting IUD

Hi. I have the Mirena IUD. I have had it for a couple years with no periods. In the past month, I have experienced tiredness, heartburn, gas/bloating/constantly burping, headaches, and nausea but when I have taken pregnancy tests, they all come up negative. I am unsure what to do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I do not think that the symptoms you are showing are due to Mirena. Mirena side effects are maximum during the first 3 months of its insertion. Chances of pregnancy with Mirena are less than 1 in 1000. You should look for other cause of these symptoms. Please get check by a physician.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
