Suggest Treatment For Irregular Menstruation

Hello. I am 45 YO. (46 in May) I have had irregular periods for the last couple of years, but actually had a chemical pregnancy in March 2014. I am on day 58 of my current cycle. Took 10 mg. Provera for 5 days to bring on period and it is now 6 days past my last pill and nothing. I keep filing like it is coming, but nothing. Should I be concerned that I have sudden ovarian failure or have I entered menopause, and no more periods?

Hi,
Since you have had a chemical pregnancy a year ago, in the current scenario, I would suggest an estimation of the serum beta-hCG titres. This can help to assess ovulation as well as exclude/confirm pregnancy. A trans-vaginal sonogram should also be done to know the status of the pelvic organs and also the thickness of the endometrium. Finally, if pregnancy has been excluded, you can go for a hormone profile to check if you have entered the menopause. Hope your query has been answered. Take care.
