From what you are telling me, it sounds like you had multiple ulcers throughout your upper GI tract, they may have looked suspicious for a viral infection so you were treated empirically (meaning before all the test results were in, doctors sometimes do this if they feel it would strongly benefit to treat right away, or if it cant wait), and they probably did a biopsy during your endoscopy (where they put a camera in the tract) and did not show any viral infection? I am completely extrapolating here so forgive me if this isn t correct. But, if it is, then I would have to agree, this is possibly inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The best way to diagnose IBD is through a biopsy, where they look at your tissue under a microscope and deeply analyze it, so if the biopsy says this is IBD, then I would put high trust in that being an accurate diagnosis. If it was inconclusive, then its difficult to say. Gastroenterologists are the doctors that help treat this condition, and there are lots of treatments available for this (different types of anti-inflammatory medications), and some people have complete remission of this disease, so dont fret, and talk to your gastroenterologist about next steps.
