Suggest Treatment For Hypothyroidism

I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism in 1986 while blood work showed normal levels I was given an Iodine uptake test which confirmed it. I was put on synthyroid low dose. In 1993 I had one of my thyroid glands removed due to nodules. I continued on the same does after surgery since each time my levels show normal range. In the last 10 years I have gained weight, my hair is thinning more, more than anything I am exhausted. Two years ago my PC doctor finally up my dose tp 137mcg finally that helped slightly. The exhaustion went from feeling more tired than usual to the present time I am just exhausted. I try to do things but when I do I end up sleeping the entire next day. I ve been sent to a doctor for depression and aniexty also ADD. I was taken off Adderral after 5 years do to High BP non of the medicine helps. Just received my blood results back and my levels are in the normal range. Can someone please help me. She wants me to see a cardiologist and a pulmonologist I believe it my thyroid but cant get my PC to listen. What test or something can really show my true levels

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Tiredness, exhaustion, sleepiness, and depression can be symptoms of Hypothyroidism. Considering this my advice is to repeat the thyroid test (TSH test in your case) in another certified lab. This is the right test that shows your if you need dose adjustment of Levothyroxine. For me, the symptoms are very important and even if your tests may result normal, I insist that there is a problem that should be clarified and resolved. So, if you were my patient, I will suggest to repeat the TSH test and adjust the doses accordingly. A slight increase of doses in my opinion may be helpful to ease your symptoms, even if your TSH is in the range, but near the upper limit of the range.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Elona Xhardo
