Suggest Treatment For Hirsutism

Hello doctor.. I am 29 yrs old female and facing hirsuitism since almost 3 years, with lots of hair ingrowths especially on my legs making them look really bad! Waxing and other epilation methods are also not that efficient since the hair growth is getting too hard. Is this problem treatable, and if yes how? Is laser an efficient option for me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You should get work up for cause of hirsutism. If any drug history should be shared with your primary care physician to rule out any significance. Also a baseline hormonal profile as well as serum electrolytes, thyroid and cortisol levels should be done. Meanwhile, if other method fails, laser removal can be more effective and a dermatologist review should be sought for safety indications in your case.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
