Suggest Treatment For Heavy Menstrual Cycle

Hello,i have been having heaving periods for most of my life except when on the birth control pill. For the last 9 months they have become very heavy . I am 51 and have not gone through menopause. I have a period for only 2 days a month and they are usually regular. My doctor send me for an ultrasound and told me that I had a thickening of the uterus. It was 21 days after my period when I was tested and from my test results I see it says I have an endometrial echo complex of 14mm. At the end of the test results is says Normal uterus with normal appearing secretory phase endometrium and normal ovaries. I am confused why she wants to do a biopsy. Thanks, Karen

Hi,

I think you should do a d&c procedure and a biopsy. There is a risk of adenocarcinoma of uterus since endometrium is very thick.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
