Suggest Treatment For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding, Abdominal Cramps And Excessive Weight Gain

My daughter is 16 and on the pill for extremely heavy periods and cramps since 14. She was on Celest for the first year but gained a stone. Changed to Yasmin a year ago but the flooding and cramps are back. She has just been given a prescription for rigevidon which I m worried about as I have suffered with depression for many years and she often has low moods although not depressed and puts weight on easily. Can you suggest an alternative please.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are more likely suggestive of conditions like hypothyroidism or PCOD.

Consult a gynecologist and get evaluated. Do an ultrasound abdomen and thyroid function test.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
