Suggest Treatment For Hard Lump On Jawbone In Front Of Ear

My 91 Yr. old mother-in-law who is in good health woke up this morning with a hard lump in front of her ear. She is in no pain; however, it is the size of half an egg. Should she be seen at Urgent Care facility or her doctor? What could have brought this on overnight?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain a swollen lump in front of the ear and that too a size of half a egg can be swollen parotid gland that is can be due to obstruction of the duct orifice that can lead to backflow of saliva into the gland and it can lead to expansion of gland that is painless..

You can consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and an x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case if there is obstruction in the duct of the salivary gland removal of the same either manually or surgically depending upon the location can help in resolution..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
