Suggest Treatment For Hard And Painful Knot In Shoulder

My daughter s boyfriend has a golf ball size knot in his shoulder where it joins the neck. He had a chest X-ray last week and is meeting with his Gp tomorrow. She says it is hard and painful. Today it has grown and is causing tingling and pain in his arm. He has had a cough. He is 20. Does this sound like a lymph node?

Dear: thanks for using our service. It does not sound like a lymph node due to the location. It can be a cyst or a lipoma which is an accumulation of fatty tissue between the skin and muscle.
