Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a really bad itching on my genitals. I just came back from training today and I've been itching since Tuesday morning. I know it's not poison oak or ivy cause it has not spread like it. But the itch feels like it and skin has broken. What can I use to stop the itching?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain itching over the genitals can be due to most common cause that is fungal infection like Tinea Corporis.. It can also be a mixed bacterial and fungal infection.. It can also occur due to Contact Dermatitis that is an allergic reaction caused with soaps, detergents, perfumes, skin cosmetics etc..
As of now you can start taking anti allergics like Levocetrizine to relieve the itching.. You can apply antifungal ointment like Clotrimzole over the itchy areas.. You can also keep the area clean and dry and avoid moisture accumulation.. Wear cotton undergarments..
In case if it does not resolve in a week consult an Internal medicine specialist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps.. ..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
