Suggest Treatment For Frequent Urination While Having Diabetes
One Glycomet 500 tablet with morning meal and one with evening meal in addition to one Glimda 2 tablet few minutes before morning meal are advised for diabetes type 2 my age 84, male... They keep fasting and pp blood and urine sugar at proper levels but frequent urination (every 60 or 75 minutes) in night. Do you advise two (not one) Glycomet 500 tablets with evening meal to cure that night over-urination problem ?
Frequent urination in diabetics may be due to presence of sugar in urine, or may be due to permanent damage that occurred to the kidney (diabetic nephropathy).
If your blood sugar is well controlled by the dose you are already taking, and there is no sugar in urine, increasing the dose will not help.
In this case you have to consult your endocrinologist, who can run some tests to asses if nephropathy is present, its grade and appropriate treatment options.
Another cause of frequent urination at your age you should consider is enlarged prostate. You can have an ultrasound to the pelvis to asses its size.
