Suggest Treatment For Focal Nodular Hyperplasia In Liver

I have Focal Nodular Hyperplasia (was 3 now 5 of them) on my liver. I don t drink during the week but I do on the weekends (binge drink - more often and more then I should) and have noticed that my belly has gotten swollen - a bit tight and i get body aches and am tired a lot of the time. I have also put on some weight. Wondering if I need to be concerned about Cancer or Cirrhosis?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history about binge drinking on weeksends, known focal nodular hyperplasia of liver, bodyaches and tired a lot.
The first and foremost important thing is that you have to stop drinking any alcoholic beverage as you have liver problem. It has alos increased the fat deposits in you in the form of belly and weight gain.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult a Gastroenterologist for clinical evaluation, examination and necessary further investigations:
Upper GI Endoscopy.
For liver: Fibroscan, MRCP. CT scan of wjhole abdomen and chest to see if there is any suspicious cancer.
FNAC of the liver lesion.
Tests of blood: tumpor markers, liver functions , kidney functions and other tests as needed.
Any finding during the course of investigations will lead to further investigations like colonoscopy and biopsy and so on.
All this will lead to a proper diagnosis and thus leads to proper management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
