Suggest Treatment For Fever With Stuffy Nose In Children

My 2month old has a fever of 99.4 and keeps sticking tongue out. I believe he actually threw up once, shortly after he got a fever. And all day he has had a little stuffy nose. He seems to be in a good mood though. I m just wondering because he s so young what to look for if its more serious that I need to take him in?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of fever with stuffy nose which seems to be infection of upper respiratory tract. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take acetaminophen for fever in dosage of 15mg/kg. You should give child proper rest. You should them plenty of fluids to rehydrate. If fever increases in value you should do tepid sponging as well. Put nasal drops in nostrils of child. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. You should get blood tests done of children to find out underlying cause of fever whether bacterial or viral and start treatment accordingly. You can give paracetamol syrup for fever as well to child. Your child's symptoms will resolve in 3-5 days.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
